Members from all three Associations of the IOMBKF turned out on Saturday 4th May, 2024 to take part in the planting of a tree in  acknowledgement of 150 years of the British Bee Keepers Association (BBKA). The planting exercise was a real joint effort from all involved!

The tree, a John Downie crab apple (Malus
Sylvestris) whose pretty white flowers smelled
wonderful, was donated to the IOMBKF by the
BBKA. The finishing touches to the planting
ceremony were provided by current President
Alistair Lothian and former President, Harry
Owens.

The tree was planted at Garey ny Chloie at Thie Slieau Whallian with a commemorative plaque.
Hopefully it will be appreciated by all those who visit the gardens including of course all our native
pollinators.
